Sol Beach House Phu Quoc

In Mid December, the leading Spanish hotels and resorts operator, Meliá Hotels International, who manages more than 370 hotels and resorts worldwide, launched its first Sol resort in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. In order to know more about this exciting brand, Saigon New Day has an interview with Ms. Magdalena Martorell, General Manager of Sol Beach House Phu Quoc

Sol Beach House Phu Quoc has just celebrated its Grand Opening in December. Could you please share with us more about the resort?

Sol Beach House is a concept developed and managed by Meliá Hotels International and is often located on famous beautiful beaches such as Bali (Indonesia), Ibiza, Majorca (Spanish). Phu Quoc, known as Pearl Island, with beautiful white sand along the coast and crystal blue ocean, is a wonderful destination for our ‘barefoot at its finest’ lifestyle. This is the reason we brought the full concept of Sol Beach House to Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

Just as its name, Sol Beach House – ‘Your home on the beach’ is perfect for travelers looking for a laid back but stylish vacation. Sol Beach House is to create a fun, comfortable vacation so that you can enjoy absolutely everything.

Sol Beach House’s interior design is a combination between modern and vintage style.

Sol Beach House is casual, chic, combining modern touches with rustic elements wrapped in vintage style. The environment is natural, free and relaxing. The two main colors – teals and whites will help you relaxed and feel comfortable just like home.

Recently, there are many new resorts in Phu Quoc. What are special features of the resort that make it unique?

Sol Beach House Phu Quoc is a nature-friendly environment resort that offers a variery of interesting activities such as yoga on the beach and healthy organic food. OLA Beach Club is the first beach club in Phu Quoc, serving top-notch Mediterranean-style dishes while The Shack provides guests with delicious street food.

From yoga and courtesy vintage bikes to organic food, brunch in your bikini and live music, Ola Beach club to contemplate the stunning sunsets of Phu Quoc with DJ, doing nothing relaxing in our hammocks, and Spa experiences by the sea. So much to do. Or not to do.

More specially, to feature the concept ‘your house on the beach’, we always welcome your furry four-legged friends to come and enjoy wonderful moments with you in the resort.

What do you think of Vietnam’s tourism in the near future?

2016 is a successful year for Vietnam’s tourism when we welcome more than 10 million guest turns, increasing more than 26% comparing to 2015. Phu Quoc has attracted more than 50% out of that 10 million guest turns.

Phu Quoc is still incipient in tourism market. However has been registering outstanding growth in arrivals of tourists since 2013. Thus the growth in 2013 has been 33%, in 2014: 140%, and 2015: 64%. The interest in the Island is growing in terms of domestic but also in international tourism. Government and investors have a plan to keep this sustainable growth and target 10 million guest turns in a frame of 6 years.

We are all convinced that Phu Quoc will become a hugely successful destination. And we are proud and glad to contribute to its development as an international resort destination. We are building together what will be a well-known paradise island in Vietnam, competing in the near future with Thailand or Bali (Indonesia).

Thank you very much for your sharing!
