Connecting the hearts
Seeing Tina Nguyen Huu Thien Nga - CEO of Faifoo hotel, the second person is not only attracted by her energeticness and sincerity, but that one also has the feeling thien nga has never had the past and coming time wasted.
DISSEMINATING NATIONAL MUSIC TO THE WORLD
Thien Nga (Tina) went to McGill University (Canada) to study Music Theory. Living abroad many years, she isn’t “Westernized” but she still feels the responsibility of protecting and developing national music of a Vietnamese-origin person. She also has the luck of being guided by Professor Tran Van Khe to study and protect traditional music abroad.
Over 20 ago, while she was living in Canada (then later in the U.S), she founded two music groups of Lac Viet Associations and Musica, gathering the amateurish astists of the ages 7-80 that gave performances of national music to disseminate Vietnamese culture - art, which was meant to calm down their homesickness of overseas Vietnamese and join in many performances to raise charitable funds. Wherever they toured, the music groups were heartily welcomed by Vietnamese communities and also by natives.
As the fruitfulness of such achievements, when getting back to Vietnam and building Faifoo Boutique Hotel - a model of Hue garden house now in miniature in transquility in the mid of the busy city, next to a gallery introducing paintings of Vietnamese artists, she continued to develop the protection of Vietnamese identiy atthe place with the performances of traditional musical instruments, traditional opera, Bac Ninh folk songs, and folksongs of various regions.
Faifoo boutique has become an interesting arrival for many foreign tourists thanks to that uniqueness.
They have enjoyment in the folksongs, classical opera played by the Vietnamese zither, monochord. Love breeds passion; many foreign tourists stayed for longer, sometimes a couple of months to passionately learn from her how to play the national musical instruments and to sing Vietnamese folksongs.
A HEART FOR CHARITY
She’s the daughter of Mr. Nguyen Huu Thai, an architecture (witness of April 30, 1975 in Saigon) and younger sister of Mr. Nguyen Huu Thai Hoa (ex- strategy CEO of FPT), and their parents’ social activities have given
quite a lot of impact on the brother and sister of Tina. Mr. Nguyen Huu Thai Hoa used to make many CDs and Trinh music performances in Vietnam and various countries for charity, to help dioxin victims. Tina, particularly, in order to help foreigners understand more about national music, in coming time, will publish a bilingual book listing all the knowledge of national musical instruments and a CD of lullaby of various types the world over plus those of the three regions of Vietnam in the two languages Englis and Vietnamese.
Not halting at national music realm, Tina is also a silent but active volunteer of many charitable programs,
linking foreign medical, educational organizations coming to Vietnam with a wish to cooperate with Vietnamese
doctors to offer treatment to oncological patients, disabled kids. Not only does she help with translation work, rectifying information, convincing patients… she also connects with foreign doctors coming to Vietnam to help at some large hospitals in ad hoc training, improving their specialty and conducting some other projects to integrate disabled kids better to social life.
At present, besides assisting VM2N group (Virtual Medical Miracle Network) from Canada in medical work, particularly to help with hazardous patients of Vietnam, Ms Tina is now Country Director of Kids Without Borders from the U.S. which has rendered a large part of assistance to orphanages from the North to South many years now.
As to Ms Tina, charitable work is simply to help those who need help with her mind and ability. However, she doesn’t only help with material conditions to the poor, and the patients; she also wish to contribute in-depth such as improving public health system, long-term educational programs to hep orphans, and the disadvantaged with vocational training so they have the instrument to seek their living.
On the charitable journey, she can’t do it well without her energetic companions and hearty support from her family, particularly from her husband (Mr. Mark Huynh - CEO of Etigo Company). Tina believes if you hold out your hand, surely other hands take it and the hand holding thus expands in contribution to the community, becoming a lean-against for the poor patients, disabled kids and the disadvantaged.
