Art At The Park 2016 – The Muse Story

Following a successful event last year, Park Hyatt Saigon is proud to present ‘Art at the Park 2016’ on the evening of Saturday, 22 October 2016. This is the second year in a row that the hotel has organised ‘Art at the Park’ – an exclusive, one-of-a-kind event that truly celebrates local art in a modern luxury ballroom in Ho Chi Minh City.
This year, in the month dedicated to women, ‘Art at the Park’ embraces “the muse” of some of the recent phenomena in the Vietnamese art scene. Under the overall theme known as ‘My Muse, My Affection’, the event offers guests an opportunity for involvement, exposure and action in our community and culture through art.
Guests were invited to an art journey and the first stop was a collection of paintings by various artists such as Young girl portrait by Phuong Quoc Tri and “Walking dream” by Lim Khim Ka Ty from Craig Thomas Gallery.
UNIQUE PAINTING STYLE
Lieu Nguyen has a unique style of creating paintings that combines gestural abstraction with pointillism by splashing colors on to the canvas. Each painting consists of several layers of colors and on average he needs around one week to one month to complete each painting.
SENSORIAL DANCE
Art is not just visual satisfaction but also sensorial experience along with beauty and emotional power. The lullabies from our dear Mother are the sound of greatest love and care that always exists in our conscious. Mother is the very first muse of one’s life, if not the most important. And that is also the concept behind the performance of dancer Thúy Vân.
VIBRANT FASHION COLLECTION
The next stop on Art at the Park journey is all about the story and creations from a young and talented female artist – Fashion designer Thủy Nguyá»…n. Starting as a painter, using material such as silk and brocade, she comes to fashion design in the most natural way. She dedicates her work to describe the beauty of Vietnamese women, inspired by traditional patterns and elements. Inspired by the ladies from the paintings of Mai Thứ, Bùi Xuân Phái or Lê Phổ, Thuy Nguyen creates a contemporary collection, yet with a traditional sense of Vietnam. Each piece in the collection is also a portrait of northern Vietnamese women, capturing their timeless beauty and charm.
MUSIC FROM THE HEART
Last but not least, Art at the Park 2016 brings together various young artists from one of the oldest musical institutions in Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra. With their instruments and beautiful voices, 23 young and talented artists will perform multiple songs about women, their life and their feelings from Vietnamese traditional songs “Bèo dạt mây trôi” and “Trèo lên quán dốc” to signature soprano aria “O mio babino caro”.
