Ngày Mới Saigon- Saigon New Day

Vietnam is one of the fastest developing countries in Asia, which is expected to continue its speedy development in the time to come. As of 2015 end, Vietnam has got more than 600,000 SME in operation, contributing 40% of the country’s GDP.

Though considered to be an important part of Vietnam economy, the SMEs still have many limitations in their competitive capabilities such as the difficulty in approaching loans and expediting manufacturing technologies, the lack of legal procedure knowledge… This particularly not only makes it difficult for several Vietnamese enterprises to compete against their foreign counterparts but also limits their growth capability and their status in the future.

To be specific, the recent development of foreign supermarket chains and their product brands in Vietnam have caused lots of difficulties to Vietnamese product brands.  Additionally, some on-going business cooperation disputes between foreign and Vietnamese enterprises have also caught public interest.

In this issue, we have the articles to share about the solution to the retail market for Vietnamese enterprises, the enhancement of competitive capabilities and the role of the Commercial Arbitration Center in the settlement of business disputes and especially those with foreign enterprises.

Such information will help contribute a small part in providing some complementary knowledge to Vietnamese enterprises on their way to international integration, which will bring about more and more challenges, but hopefully open up opportunities as well.
